Why?
Who: Gokudera, Yamamoto
When: A year or so into 'therapy'.
What: The long awaited question.
Summer break had come and gone; the American school system was weird to adjust too honestly. Constantly schooling, then a giant gap instead of reasonable chunks but that was his mind attempting to digress. A whole school year, Yam was a metric fuck ton better at English and then this shit.
"Why?"
Fuck.
He knew what his friend meant. Why was he in this bullshit 'therapy' course. Why did he aggressively stay in the same grade...just, why. Oh sure, he knew the boy suspected, and had probably done some independent research like the sneaky bastard he was. Why?
"Because I fucking want to."
Important, that 'want'. He'd fucking chosen it so that was the end right?
Wrong.
"Gokudera seems to be failing on purpose!"
They'd been studying as the newest crop of malcontents settled into the room, but the damn baseball idiot was staring and that made him look up. Summer had been...good. He'd wandered toward Tsuyoshi's shop more often than not, and cracked open college texts while Yama poked him but...
...
...yeah. Showing off extracurricular shit was apparently a mistake.
"I never fail. I maintain a strict average," he growled softly.
"Is that what the reports say?" his friend laughed.
Fucking friends. "Yes." Minus the actual written lines of 'fails to uphold his potential' bullshit. The word WAS on the reports to Shamal. WHEN Yama could have spied that shit was another matter entirely but he'd figure out home security later.
Hell, knowing his uncle he'd flashed letters while eating at Yama's dad's place. Asshole.
"Why?"
He closed the book they'd been looking at and growled, "you know why."
Yama looked down at the book cover and scratched his nose, that idiot look on his face, "why would I ask if I know?"
"Knew. Tenses," he sighed.
"Like I said!" the boy grinned.
"I hate you," he snorted, debating if he should join the new 'circle' or just do homework again.
"Gokudera is so hurtful!"
Fucker.
Why?
He'd debated leaving the 'group' session end of the year but honestly, well...
...pushy fucker.
