Info dump post - Marvel (input appreciated!)
POWERS: So, mutants etc have exited all through time, just not in great number. Perfectly normal that a strong powered individual was able to gather other strong people around them. Let's call them early mutants for convenience sake. They could be fae blooded, or alien, what matters is the ability is similar to what mutants can have and can be passed down through bloodlines.
The Rings:
Marvel is honestly full of artifacts: magical, alien and just unexplained. It is perfectly plausible that the 'Earthlings' of the Triniset establishment were actually alien. Then, well, magical rainbow babies. They went up a mountain, shit happened, arcabelano. A pact made. The purpose of the Triniset is to guide the evolution of life on Earth after all, and the bodies of the arcabelano, the souls of the Primo and Guardians, all were bound into artifacts that would effect and influence bodily evolution. Down the road this leads to an uptick in X-gene mutation. This leads to some rather powerful people in Vongola, and chosen for Vongola. At first the rings act as guides, given the souls in them etc, they help channel and tap what may be latent ability in the bearers until powers can be used on their own.
There are similar artifacts in Marvel, such as the Soul Sword, Excalibur etc. Guides and boosters. Vongola had enough strength and influence through the ages to protect them from the wider populace, thankfully. No one wants to deal with some of the demons that go after the aforementioned artifacts.
In essence, they are powerful tools that they should NOT be separated from, etc. They helped regulate power growth in the children before they ended up in schooling. Just leaning heavily into the fact they were created to shape evolution leads into Marvel easily.
In essence they are tools used to refine and focus ability after training/evolution, if other mutants or powered beings were trained in using them before their powers manifested they would be able to use them as well. After manifestation people's powers are not set in pathways to interact with the rings.
Mutant Equivalents:
Okay. So. Each of the ring sets/powers have an equivalent, or a translation in mutant ability as it were. I'll put thoughts about prime powers as well as secondary or rare powers in each type etc. Given that these children have been tweaked they ARE stronger than many other mutants, so, it's going to get kind of powerful here. Especially those who can use multiple types of flame, my thought was that cross contamination in the flames triggered more abilities in people, and some people *coughGokuderacough* are over achievers who poke at far too damn much and have some wonky active X-genes.
Sky:
Primary: Empathy. OH GODS EMPATHY. And Intuition, in this case we're calling it limited foresight/foreknowledge. I'd also like to slide a lot of the 'I have unbreakable bonds to my Family' in here with the empathy. Sky can feel their people.
In the case of Vongola also paired with sky is the Dying Will flame. This will work a little different in Marvel. There is no special bullet, but it's an innate ability in Sky Vongola, a heightened adrenal state that boosts the nervous system and body in general beyond normal bonds paired with a degree of hyper cell regeneration in that state. He CAN inspire it in others, when he has enough control of it (in early Reborn canon it's instinctual OH GOD THIS GUY SHOT MY MAYBE FRIEND IN THE HEAD triggering), but initially it must be forced via life or death situations. He literally gets shot in the head to wake up the ability.
Let's hope Reborn actually knew it would work instead of shooting many teenagers in the head until he found Tsuna. Granted, I wouldn't put it past Reborn to do exactly that so moving on!
Secondary: Luck. Probability influencing, unconscious.
Tertiary: Magnetic charisma
Storm:
Primary: Matter dissolution. Storm weakens and destroys the bonds between molecules. We knew this yes.
Secondary: Calm in the storm, an eye in the destruction to see all the issues and plan around them while defending family. A heightened mental state that allows for lightning fast analysis and reaction, but also enforces a localized temporal state. Time actually stretches for a Storm guardian, allowing better reaction and analysis in this state.
Tertiary: Enhanced intelligence. Lucky full spectrum for Dera XD
Rain:
Primary: Cellular and mental pacification via area saturation of pheromones. Adaptive pheromone ability allows for calming and influencing any body it encounters after a few minutes of acclimation. An over-exposure to this effect can cause extreme lethargy, flattened mental and emotional affect, and eventually a sleep like state. Luckily Yamamoto has better control than to have it running constantly. This ability CAN be easily skewed, such as evidenced in Squalo. His body doesn't quite peg how to calm people well, resulting in his presence making people edgy but slow to react. It could be possible for Yama to lean how to choose an effect on others beyond calming, but will require training and concentration, where as the normal effects of Rain are nearly subconscious.
Secondary: Physical enhancement, could be considered the reverse of metabolic slowing, but some rain users throw harder, move faster, etc. Yama's pitches can break concrete, so. Internal application of endocrine system analysis, body secreting biochemistry as suits the situation rather than reaching out to environment.
Cloud:
Primary: Replication! Or mass generation as it were depending on how it's focused. Making one thing into many things outside the body, as long as the CLoud user knows or touches the intended replication target.
Secondary: Internal Cloud expression is dicey; often in Hibari's case he seems to generate thicker skin/low level armor, or replicate blood to compensate for damages. These are low level applications that mainly cause no lasting harm. Higher applications, such as replicating bone or the like often results in rampant issues, nearly cancer levels of unchecked or undirected growth. When Cloud trips over into the dangerous internal applications the ability is nearly impossible to turn off, requiring being dropped into a medical coma to shut off Cloud flame sources or seeing a Sun user to reset the power breakers internally (and to handle the rampant internal issues).
Mist: Solid Illusion! The ability to project images and bend light into solidity. Mini dangerroom kids! Minus Shi-ar tech!
Secondary: Telepathy! Most Mist users do develop the ability to lay illusions directly in the mind or the like, which requires telepathy.
Tertiary: Random ability grabbag. No two Mist users are alike, almost all strong Mist users manifest another, unrelated ability.
Sun:
Primary: HEALING and vigor! Touch healing, internal life energy etc.
Secondary: Regeneration!
Lightning:
Primary: Atomic manipulation; lightning users are able to excite atoms in much the same way some telekinetics can, causing directed charges (lightning) or even Carbon strengthening (shielding/grounding) in short spurts. Unlike telekinetics they cannot effect lifting of objects or the like, and bending spoons would be the result of causing the atoms of one side to heat/warp. This is a limited ability in that it takes a great deal of energy to maintain for any length of time, making high level lightning users devastating in battle, but metabolically ravenous. High level users develop rather immense snacking habits, and rebuilding mass after hard battles may be necessary.
Secondary: Environmental understanding; this is more of a sideways application of the lightning ability, and common in lower strength users. Due to their ability to manipulate atoms, many lightning users develop a sense for 'this is not right' in complex systems, like electronics. Many engineers and developers in Varia and related families are low level or non-battle lightning aligned.
Tertiary: Time Displacement/travel, this is a VERY rare ability, no one is quite sure why or how it is related to Lightning, but there is a tool to train those who demonstrate such ability (the ten year bazooka). Much like with Sky's Dying Will, this ability can be targeted at others but it takes a great deal of effort (or tool use) to do so in the initial training stages.

Box weapons/box and gear tech: Given the alien origin of the rings/Arcabelano/etc it's only natural that people will manage to evolve to understand the layered details that are the rings and such. It's a tech path that some under the Vongola family umbrella can trend toward, just like many things in New York are influenced by Stark Tech. This results in intuitive growth leaps that those outside Vongola cannot follow easily, and means if you stuck Vongola techies in a room with other techies they'd theorize at each other until they were all screaming and designing completely different things for the same purpose.
Box Weapon Animals: The box weapon animals are what happens when you program a bestiary lexicon into layered plate strata and attune that box to a specific user. In essence a person's ability decides assets of animals in the bestiary that would be best suited to the user. This sometimes means a single animal (such as Tsuna's lion) or an amalgamation (such as Dera's cat with armored scales). Once the naive animal box is imprinted the form is set. A different user attempting to subvert or use said animal causes irreparable damage to the base unit (such as Mukurowl). In these cases an animal form may still be functional to a degree but will never be at optimal efficiency again.
Box animals rely on the energy and power of their users to function. Much like ring tech, without the channeling through the box, the animal cannot exist outside. Keeping a box animal out of it's box can be considered an exercise in stamina and concentration.
Hello. Outside Consultant Here~
Sky: Empathy and some limited clairvoyance are always fun. The Dying Will stuff could work by kind of like influencing adrenalin or something in the body which ties right into the empathy etc, I feel. Basically inducing the same sort of state that makes the mother lift a car off her child, as the stories like the go. Some sort of sympathetic nervous system feedback loop.
Storm: I mentioned maybe the secondary isn't JUST enhanced reactions but actually involves a localized temporal bubble. Like when people in crisis say that everything seemed to move in slow motion except it's actually moving in slow motion for whatever distance around the user. You could literally call it "eye of the storm" and that's cheesy which makes it the most Marvel thing ever.
Rain's trait is pacification, and you've got two kind of mental power focused ones already, I wonder if Rain couldn't be directed more to the physical. Have you seen My Hero Academia? There's a character, Midnight, who releases pheromones that make people sleep, and that's kind of what I'm thinking here. Maybe not pheromones exactly, but some physical chemical or gas release. I'm not the sciency one here. XD But like it could work as kind of nerve blockers and achieve the effects that you've listed out. It being body chemical manipulation also ties really well into the secondary you thought of, imo. And it would open the door to other iterations of the power (Yamamoto is a walking-talking Dopamine fix? Caffeine substitute? XD) that wouldn't step too directly on anyone else's power-toes, if you will.
Cloud: Another one that's making me think of a MHA equivalent. Momo is able to create anything carbon-based out of her own body (basically, it's slightly more complicated but that's not relevant here). I am also thinking of Deadpool, though, specially how his power is basically super cancer. Something kind of inbetween the two, where the secondary comes into play when the user duplicates his own cells, etc, and the form when he duplicates the molecular structure of something he can see/touch maybe? But if he uses it on himself, he better go see a Sun after, cause the results probably aren't terribly pretty. Maybe Deadpool is the result of a failed(?) experiment to turn someone non-Vongola into a Cloud?
Mist and Sun are, I feel like, the two power sets that translate the most directly into a mutant-esque universe. Simple to describe but with a wide range of applications, etc.
Lightning: I feel like Lightning being bioelectrics makes it a little too similar to Sky and Rain when I feel like it has another great option that isn't already covered except maybe a bit by Mist. So the actual attribute of Lightning is hardening (which I think is probably because they were just running out of ideas and it was Lambo anyway so when was it ever going to matter, right?) BUT! I think there's a lot of possibility here for this being the... combat tank class, if you will. Atomic manipulation. I'm not sure what the barrier to "and then he destroyed the world" would be here, honestly, but things like agitating atoms to create lightning or making an air barrier out of molecules to create a shield. Maybe it can only be sustained for short periods of time. The secondary could involve an innate understanding of chemical or material makeups of items that would lead weaker Lightning users to be very good mechanics and inventors. I dunno, this is me train-of-thought workshopping this. Feel free to ignore it, but it's just an idea I had.
Ignore any/all of whatever. These are just thoughts I had bouncing off your starting points~
